We've had a rocky road with pet sitters. One woman (bonded, insured and a member of a professional pet sitters organization) took a deposit before our vacation and then later told us she didn't want to go to Queens. This was 3 days before we were to leave. She never gave the money back and we had to board our cat at the Vets office. Boarding her is NOT something we want to ever do again. It's too depressing and traumatic for our cat. It took at least 3 weeks for her to bounce back.

We met with a nice girl last week and she was going to come again to do the fluids on her own (our cat is a handful). She returned my call once and since then...flake city. No returned calls or emails.

We are meeting with yet another pet sitter tomorrow evening. Wish us luck!!

The sitter we were going to meet with tonight has rescheduled for Wednesday. Sigh.

I think we've found a sitter than can do fluids, handle our devil and doesn't flake out! Hurrah!

His name is Dan Gabriel and he lives in the Astoria/Sunnyside section of Queens. He also trains dogs and does pet services in Manhattan.

I was at my vet earlier this week to pick up supplies and was chatting with a woman in the waiting room. She recommended a cat sitter to me. I'm going away next month so I booked this sitter (insured & bonded) but I can't really vouch for the service until afterwards. We've spoken on the phone and she sounds legit - no red flags. If anyone is interested, it's On all Fours (Leslie Kaufman) and she does fluids, administers oral meds, etc. Serves Manhattan & Queens. (718) 793-1704 OnAllFoursCatSitting@earthlink.net

Did this sitter work out for you? My cat-sitter flaked out on me (she had her reasons) so I'm kind of stuck in a bind as I am going away next week. Can you pass along his contact info? Thanks!

We're currently using Dan Gabriel and he's been a dream. Total sweetheart.

We had tried to use a woman named Helen...who was a total nightmare. Left us high & dry and KEPT the deposit.
